Maltese Beaches You Should Stop By At In Santa Marija Week

Aug 8 2024 Share

The highly anticipated Santa Marija week has finally arrived, and for many, this much-needed break is all about unwinding and enjoying some leisure time. What better way to do that than by soaking up the sun on one of Malta’s stunning beaches?

The Maltese Islands—Malta, Gozo, and Comino—boast an array of beautiful beaches to suit every taste. Here are some of the best:

Golden Bay

One of Malta’s most famous beaches, Golden Bay offers both locals and tourists an easy access to golden sands and crystal-clear waters. The beach is well-equipped, featuring several kiosks, restaurants, and even a hotel overlooking the lively shore. For those seeking ultimate relaxation, sunbeds are available, making your day at the beach even more enjoyable.

Għar Lapsi

A hidden gem on Malta’s west coast, Għar Lapsi is often overlooked despite its natural beauty. Nestled beneath the Dingli Cliffs and near Siġġiewi, this beach is a natural swimming pool filled with turquoise waters. Perfect for snorkeling and diving, Għar Lapsi also boasts a 40-meter-deep cave and other natural historical features, making it a fascinating spot to explore.

Ramla L-Ħamra Bay

For those spending their week off on Malta’s sister island, Gozo, Ramla Bay is a must-visit. Known for its striking red sand, this beach offers something for everyone, from its crystal-clear waters to the iconic Madonna statue that stands as a symbol of local religious devotion. Don’t forget to grab a treat from ‘Champions Ice Cream,’ one of Gozo’s most famous ice cream trucks.

Anchor Bay

Home to the iconic Popeye’s Village, Anchor Bay is often overshadowed by its famous neighbor. However, this beach is a treasure in its own right, with clear waters teeming with marine life—ideal for snorkeling and underwater exploration. The area is well-served with kiosks and other amenities, making it a convenient and enjoyable beach destination.

St Peter’s Pool

Located in the south of Malta, St Peter’s Pool is a natural swimming spot perfect for adventurous groups. Though it requires a bit of effort to reach, the reward is well worth it. The site features excellent jumping spots and deep blue waters, set against the rugged beauty of the Delimara Peninsula, near Marsaxlokk and Marsaskala.

Blue Lagoon

Often regarded as Malta’s most picturesque bay, the Blue Lagoon on Comino is a dream destination. Accessible by a short ferry ride, this bay is ideal for a day out on the water, with boat tours available to explore nearby caves. For those who prefer to relax on land, sunbeds and umbrellas are available, offering a perfect way to enjoy the stunning views.

Paradise Bay

Paradise Bay is the ultimate spot for friends and families looking for a lively atmosphere, complete with music and a top-notch beach bar. Situated near the Ċirkewwa ferry terminal, this bay offers great views of Comino and is perfect for a day of fun and relaxation. There are also quieter areas nearby for those who prefer a more peaceful beach experience.

Wied il-Għasri

A hidden treasure in Gozo, Wied il-Għasri is a secluded bay known for its stunning scenery. This small, picturesque bay is ideal for sunbathing and relaxation, while its unique marine life makes it a haven for divers and snorkelers. Whether you’re looking to unwind, seek adventure, or capture the perfect Instagram shot, Wied il-Għasri is a must-visit during your time in Gozo.

Taking to Facebook, lawyer Jason Azzoaprdi shared details of numerous individuals, first of 21 Indian nationals, who were registered as living at the same Mġarr maisonette.

Azzopardi shared photos of the Identita documents, as well as some from Transport Malta and Epic.

He alleged that each person paid €10,000 but were deceived into there being legal procedures, calling it one of the biggest scandals on the island.

After publishing the first 21 documents, Azzopardi continued to share various other documents of similar instances.

‘I calculate close to €70,000,000 in bribes which were passed through the hands of government officials of Identity Malta and other departments.’

‘The ID Cards racket is the biggest anti-labour racket. It incentivises human trafficking. It abuses the privacy of homes’, he wrote in his latest post.
