What’s in a Name?

Despite being one of Malta’s smallest towns only about two thousand people live there Ta’ Xbiex has enough charm to fill a treasure chest! It has a quiet and classy feel, with a lush promenade for walking and jogging, and grand views of Valletta’s tall fortress walls.
Sailboats, Yachts, and a Yacht Club!
If you love boats, this is your spot. Ta’ Xbiex boasts a big yacht marina and is home to the Royal Malta Yacht Club a place where fancy sailboats and racers gather.
Splendid Villas Turned Embassies
What do embassies, fancy houses, and international flair have in common? Ta’ Xbiex! Many beautiful old villas here now serve as embassies for countries like Egypt, Germany, Ireland, Spain, France, and even Australia. It’s almost like the whole world lives here!
A Special Church
Every great town needs a story, and here it is: Ta’ Xbiex became its own parish in 1969. Its main church is dedicated to Saint John of the Cross, built in the 1950s and known for a giant crucifix inside that is really impressive!
Other Cool Stuff
There is also an early‑modern building called Villino Ellul it was one of Malta’s first Modernist-style houses, built in the late 1930s. Now it’s offices, but still super cool to spot!
And if you love walking or running by the sea, you’ll enjoy the long promenade that stretches from Pietà, through Ta’ Xbiex, and on to Sliema or Valletta. The views are stunning, especially at sunrise!
