From Thor to Minions: Here's what you can watch at Embassy this month
Jul 12 2022 Share

It’s that time again to highlight some of the blockbusters making their way to Embassy Cinemas this month. Here is but a short list of the most exciting films you can watch this July:

Minions: The Rise of Gru

This movie needs almost no introduction – continuing off the Despicable Me and Minions franchise by Illumination, the second addition to the Minions saga has taken the world by storm. The Minions became a cultural icon and now we get to see how they became Gru’s loyal companions. And who knows, maybe you’ll catch some guys in suits as they undertake the #gentleminions trend…

Thor: Love and Thunder

Chris Hemsworth returns as the God of Thunder in another instalment to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Once again wielding his trusty hammer (and axe?), Thor will be facing a brand new and menacing threat, a rekindled flame and go on a search to discover who he truly is.

The Black Phone

This month’s horror thriller is rightfully the stuff of nightmares. After being abducted by a child killer and locked in a soundproof basement, a 13-year-old boy starts to receive calls on a disconnected phone from the killer’s previous victims. The trailer is suggestive but keeps many secrets for the theatre-goer to discover once they head to the movie theatre.

Where the Crawdads Sing

A new drama and master by director Olivia Newman, ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ is based on a woman who raised herself in the marshes of the Deep South. However, her life is quickly turned upside down when she becomes the suspect in the murder of a man she was once involved with. Starring Daisy Edgar-Jones, this new release will have you at the edge of your seat.

5 days leave for people staying home to care for sick relative
Jul 12 2022 Share

Parliamentary Secretary Andy Ellul has just announced a new ‘carer’s leave’, which will allow parents to take unpaid time off to take care of an ill family member.

These workers will be able to benefit from five days unpaid leave and will be applicable when a parent or worker has someone in the family who needs caring for due to being unwell.

The Parliamentary Secretary also revealed in a press conference that it will be available for people to take care of someone living in the same residence as them.

The leave will not be taken from the worker’s own personal or sick leave. This comes along with other reforms to leave, which will see fathers getting 10 days paid leave on the birth of their child amongst others.

BBC commentators had to apologize for Kyrgios’s language saying “Apologies for the language, it’s live sport, it’s tense”. The incident in question was when he asked chair umpire Renaud Lichtenstein for a first serve after two double faults saying: “It’s a f*****g joke.” Throughout the match he was seen arguing with fans and even with his girlfriend and family for their apparent lack of support.

He was fined $4,000 for an audible obscenity in front of royalty, with Prince George and Princess Kate in attendance with their son Prince George. Kyrgios had to pay two more fines throughout this year’s Wimbledon however he has not only made the money back but also received much more after winning £1,050,000 as runner-up.
