Former Project Green CEO Steve Ellul has been approved by the Labour Party as a candidate for the European Parliament elections in June.
Steve is a Financial Analyst and Lecturer at the University of Malta. With many years of experience, he held key positions at the Bank of Valletta, overseeing investments in Malta and abroad, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East.
He graduated with honors from the University of Malta and pursued further studies with a Master’s in Corporate Finance at a European university. Steve later became a Chartered Financial Analyst, earning an excellence certificate from the CFA Institute in Charlottesville, USA, distinguishing himself as a certified Financial Analyst in Malta.
In recent years, he served as a consultant in enterprise and sustainable development, particularly advocating for ESG principles in Malta.
Through his influence, numerous Maltese businesses are now investing in environmental and social corporate responsibility. Steve also led a group on the economy during the 100 IDEA process of the Labour Party, contributing proposals integrated into the government’s electoral program.
As the Executive Director of Project Green, Steve initiated robust environmental projects in San Ġwann and Bormla, launching the Community Greening Grant, investing in 16 localities across Malta and Gozo.
Under his leadership, Project Green regenerated open spaces, including the Family Park in Birżebbuġa, park extensions in Ħaż-Żabbar, Mosta, and Marsaskala, as well as gardens in Qrendi, Gudja, Ħal Safi, and Kalkara. Concurrently, he played a crucial role in securing a €8.5 million European fund for Project Green to invest in family parks in Fgura, Naxxar, the Three Cities, and Bengħajsa.
Steve Ellul, aged 38, is married to Marisianne and has two daughters, Aurora and Francesca.
