Tallinja card holders to be able to donate credit to Puttinu Cares

Tallinja card holders to be able to donate credit to Puttinu Cares
Mar 30 2023 Share

Malta Public Transport has just launched a facility to allow Tallinja card holders to apply for a refund for any residual credit on their cards – or, if they’re feeling charitable, have the option to donate the credit to Puttinu Cares.

The refund process will be introduced in a staggered approach, starting with the Gozo cards in April 2023.

This follows the introduction of free public transport for all Tallinja Card holders as customers gain the option of topping up their Cards to pay for Tallinja Direct services, Tallinja on Demand, as well as Valletta Ferry Services and the Upper Barrakka lift.

During 2023, customers will be able to use their card on more services, as they become available as the credit on Tallinja Cards does not expire.

‘Customers whose credit on their Tallinja Card amounts to less than €5 are able to spend this credit on any of the other mobility services available or donate it to Puttinu Cares Foundation. For clarity, all Tallinja Card customers will be able to donate all their Tallinja Card credit, irrespective of the amount on their card. All donations made to Puttinu Cares Foundation will be made in full, without any deductions from the credit on the Tallinja card.’

Customers can request their refund or donate to Puttinu based on the following schedule: From April onwards, Gozo cards; From May onwards, Child and Concession Cards; From June onwards, Adult and Student cards.

France may make influencers label their filtered photos

France may make influencers label their filtered photos
Mar 30 2023 Share

The French government is currently considering a proposed legislation which would require influencers to label content which is filtered, retouched or augmented in any way.

This proposal would also ban the influencers from promoting plastic surgery as part of paid partnerships.

France’s Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire revealed via a Tweet on March 24th that enacting this law would help limit the ‘destructive psychological effects of filtering and retouching on internet users’ self-esteem.’

Despite research concerning this requiring further investigation, it is currently being reported that heavy social media use and the viewing of highly manipulated images showcasing ‘perfect’ bodies can have negative psychological impacts on young users, especially girls.

This follows a recent social media uproar caused by the New Bold Glamour TikTok filter.

The filter was used by millions as they highlighted how accurate the filter was, not being impacted by waving hands in front of one’s face. Many critiqued the filter for its potentially damaging effects on self-esteem.
