Forbes Billionaires 2022 list unveiled: Rihanna, Ye and more celebrities

Forbes Billionaires 2022 list unveiled: Rihanna, Ye and more celebrities
Apr 6 2022 Share

Forbes’ annual ranking of billionaires worldwide has just been unveiled, and it is packed with celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Ye and Rihanna.

The list, which was released to the world on Tuesday, saw the return of many billionaires as well as the introduction of some ‘new’ faces on the list.

Among the fresh new faces is 34-year-old pop star Rihanna. Leveraging her Fenty Beauty cosmetics line and the Savage X Fenty lingerie business with a net worth of $1.7 billion, Rihanna was declared the world’s richest female musician.

However, Rihanna still ranked number 1,729 on the list, which is a long ways off from the top position, occupied by Elon Musk. In fact, the world’s richest woman, Francoise Bettencourt Meyers, ranks at 14th place. She is the granddaughter of the founder of L’Oreal. Her net worth is $74.8 billion.

The top of the list is, as already mentioned, occupied by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who has a net worth of $219 billion. He is followed by Jeff Bezos, whose net worth at $171 billion, is at quite a distance from Musk’s.

The list saw some other peculiar inclusions apart from the usual Buffets and Gates. Kanye West in 1,513th place, Kim Kardashian (#1,645), and even Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson (#1,929), made it onto the list.

Robert Arrigo will not seek election as deputy leader term set to expire

Robert Arrigo will not seek election as leader term set to expire
Apr 6 2022 Share

Nationalist Party leader Robert Arrigo revealed on Tuesday that he will not seek election to any post within the Oppositional party once his deputy leader term expires.

Arrigo had assumed the position for the past five years, serving under both Adrian Delia and Bernard Grech. His term expires when the party convenes a general council meeting as per party rules following a general election loss.

Speaking on NET TV, Arrigo expressed pride in his work and for getting reelected from two districts in the fourth general election. However, his work and activities as a 67-year-old were becoming a strain. He also expressed how some considered him to be one of the old guard within the PN.

Thanking everyone who supported him, he promised to continue to be of service to them. He also revealed that the result of the general election made him feel miserable, despite getting personal support from voters. He had managed to rise over €600,000 for the party in the past few months, saying that despite not having a direct role in the PN electoral campaign, he was involved in the fund raising.

This all follows a tweet he left on social media following the general election and the news that Bernard Grech will once again contest for PN leadership. Arrigo had tweeted out ‘please help us Roberta’, referring to current EP President Roberta Metsola. This rose eyebrows as possible disagreement with current leadership of the party a.k.a Bernard Grech.

Liverpool and Manchester City win Champions League Quarter Final first legs

Apr 5 2022 Share

English rivals Manchester City and Liverpool have both won their respective Champions League quarter final first legs, against Spanish champions Atletico Madrid and Portuguese team Benfica. Manchester City narrowly beat their Spanish opponents 1-0 whilst Liverpool were more comfortable in Lisbon, beating Benfica 3-1.

Liverpool were in control for most of the match even though their opponents had home advantage. The first goal of the game came in the 17th minute when Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate heading the ball into the back of the net. Tricky winger Sadio Mane managed to double Liverpool’s lead in the 34th minute.

Benfica were more fired up in the second half and that showed when young prolific striker Darwin Nunez managed to score a goal for the home side in the 49th minute. After the goal Benfica continued to press and challenge  the English team but they didn’t convert any of their chances before new Liverpool signing Luis Diaz managed to really and truly end the tie in the 87th minute.

Manchester City completely dominated the possession stats and shooting stats of the game, whilst Atletico settled more for a conservative approach which to be fair was very close to working out. The first half didn’t feature too many Atletico Madrid attacks but included a lot of Manchester City chances, chances that were not taken.

The game completely changed when halfway through the second half Manchester City introduced Jack Grealish and Phil Foden to the game. Within a few minutes of entering the pitch Foden fantastically managed to find a marauding Kevin De Bruyne that broke the deadline, giving City the lead of the tie in the 70th minute.

Tomorrow will see reigning champions Chelsea take on Real Madrid and German champions Bayern against underdog Villareal.

Hermanos Burgers take the billboard game to the next level

Hermanos Burgers take the billboard game to the next level
Apr 5 2022 Share

Known for their guerrilla marketing and mouth-watering massive burgers, Hermanos Burgers have also went the extra mile with their billboards.

Capturing the attention of many as they made their way on the island’s roads, the billboards captured the true essence of the brand and reminded us why we love their sandwiches.

One billboard saw Hermanos listed second in what they deemed to be the ‘Top 5 Addictions in Malta’. The burger eatery placed second only to PornHub, but above Eurovision, TikTok and Politics.

Another billboard essentially compared burger sizes, placing a multi-layered Hermanos burger alongside a normal burger. Opening in 2020, Hermanos quickly took over the burger scene in Malta.

Known for their huge burger servings, the outlets are currently situated in four spots in Malta; Paola, Birkirkara, Mellieha and Paceville.

And if somehow you’ve been living under a rock and never headed off to one of their outlets, these billboards might just spark your interest to try out their menu of delicious burgers and snacks.
