A Puerto Rican model has just made history as the first Victoria’s Secret model to have Down’s syndrome.
By the name of Sofia Jirau, aged 24, she joined 17 other women in the brand’s new Love Cloud Collection on Valentine’s Day, modelling a line of underwear. Jirau herself took to Instagram to write that ‘one day I dreamed of it, I worked on it and today it is a dream come true.’
I can finally tell you my biggest secret. I am the first Victoria’s Secret model with Down’s syndrome!’ she said. The only second Puerto Rican model to star on a Victoria’s Secret campaign, She follows the steps of Joan Smalls, who began modelling in 2010.

Jirau launched her modelling career in 2019 alongside her own online store called Alavett. She went on to make her New York Fashion Week debut in 2020 and started a Spanish-language campaign called No Limits to show the possibilities for people with Down’s syndrome.
‘Thank you Victoria’s Secret for seeing me as a model who has #NoLimits and making me part of the inclusive Love Cloud Collection campaign’ she said on Instagram. Victoria’s Secret itself is in the middle of a rebrand as it attempts to appeal to all types of women.
