FC Sheriff shock Real Madrid with last minute winner

Sep 29 2021 Share

Last night, Moldovan team FC Sheriff shocked Spanish giants Real Madrid and narrowly beat  them 2-1 scoring the winner in the 89th minute. This came as a shock to every football fan and even more so considering the game was being held at Real Madrid’s home, Santiago Bernabéu.

The score line did not represent the match stats, as according to the stats Real Madrid should have easily won. Los Blancos had 31 shots to Sheriff’s 4, 76% possession of the match and passed the ball 705 times in comparison to Sheriff’s 237 passes. They were still the losing team come the end of the match.

The first half started the way Real Madrid wanted it, attacking the Sheriff goal and coming close to finding the back of the net. In the 25th minute Sheriff scored their first chance of the game, from a well worked header by Uzbekistan striker Jasurbek Yakhshiboev. The first half continued the way how it started with Real Madrid looking for a goal but this time Sheriff looked more confident attacking.

The second half was very similar to the first, as both teams were looking for a goal or more. Real Madrid started the half in good fashion, which resulted in a penalty in the 65th minute which was coolly slotted home by Karim Benzema. Now that the game was again back in a stalemate, it was a race against time for the two teams to find a winner. Surprisingly the Moldovan side won the race late on in the 89th minute. The superb goal by Sébastien Thill was what broke Los Blancos hearts.

Terry Muscat’s alleged assailant forgiven ‘wholeheartedly’

Terry Muscat’s alleged assailant forgiven ‘wholeheartedly’

Terry Muscat, local social media personality, has ‘wholeheartedly’ forgiven Gareth Chlach, who punched her in the face and seriously injured her. Muscat said that she simply wanted to help him lead a better life. Muscat took the witness stand against Chlach, 22, who was remanded in custody a fortnight ago after pleading not guilty to violently accusing the former.

The youth allegedly screamed and head butted a courtroom door at the prospect of going to jail. The man was returned to court two weeks later, with Muscat testifying about their former relationship and the events leading up to the episode. Muscat alleged that she knew the accused and family background for a long time, welcoming him into her home to overcome his drug habit.

Muscat said that the two were not lovers but good friends, with the former allegedly also buying him a mobile phone as a gift. The accused sold it however. The relationship turned sour over the past few months, with Muscat dialling the police the morning of the incident and pleading with her companion to move out.

Chlach moved out but returned later that evening, with Muscat deciding to help him as he had a ‘different air’ about him. The accused destroyed Muscat’s phone and landed a punch into her face as she tried to pick up her damaged tech.

Wrapping up her testimony, Muscat said that she knew the accused knew he had wronged her, and wished to forgive him wholeheartedly. Following the testimony, a fresh request for bail was not objected to by the prosecution, even considering that the accused had turned himself in at the police station.

The case continues in November, but a protection order has been issued, warning Chlach not to approach the victim in any way. The court, presided over by Magistrate Ian Farrugia, upheld the request against a deposit of €500, a personal guarantee of €1,500, an order to sign a bail book three times a week and to abide by a curfew between 9pm and 6.30 am.

More sausages with nails found between Naxxar and Mosta

More sausages with nails found between Naxxar and Mosta
Sep 29 2021 Share

A new batch of sausages embedded with nails has popped up in the vicinity of ‘Tal-Wey’ fields. The issue was raised by residents of Mosta after the animal hazard surfaced between Mosta and Naxxar. The intention behind the barbaric act seems to kill and/or injure dogs and other animals frequenting the fields. The case was highlighted on a Facebook group called ‘Rubs Puppy Love.’

The warning was met with much concern and disbelief by dog owners as this comes just weeks after a similar batch was found around Gharb and San Lawrenz in Gozo. Many tagged owners in the post to warn them of the hazard, with others exclaiming how dangerous it has become to own a dog and go for a walk without endangering the pet’s life.  Others rightfully asked how people could come up with such wicked ideas.

People are playing the games in Squid Game for real…minus the dying

People are playing the games in Squid Game for real…minus the dying

Fans of the currently crazy popular Netflix show Squid Game are playing the game ‘Red Light, Green Light’ in real life. It is becoming somewhat of a TikTok trend, as players approach a large animatronic doll seen in the show, stopping whenever the doll turns towards them, with the eerie music playing over the top. The game is played in the first episode by the characters, but those who lose end up getting killed… something real life players aren’t thankfully doing.

It is a game similar to ‘What’s the Time, Mr Wolf?’ or ‘Musical Statues’, with anyone who continues to move when ‘red light’ is called being eliminated from the game. TikTokers are posting videos of themselves playing the game, captioning it ‘Those who have watched it will understand’. Squid Game is on its way to become Netflix’s most watched show of all time, with a 100% rating from Rotten Tomatoes. The gory and psychological horror series has captured the attention of Netflix viewers everywhere, giving a fresh idea and spinning it into a thrilling drama.
