Exterminator Appeals For People To Stop Letting Birds Loose

Taking to social media, Exterminator Arnold Sciberras explained that he and other professionals working with him are noting a worrying amount of domesticated birds, from chickens to peacocks to ducks, being thrown out into the streets.
Some of these birds become feral and end up harming the local ecosystem. Others, however, clearly domesticated, end up suffering a distressing death.
Others end up carrying diseases or even causing infrastructural damage. Arnold urged people to stop this madness and to instead contact who can professionally take up these animals.
Arnold says he knows of many farmers and other persons who have the means of keeping and caring for the animals. He even included one of these chickens, found in San Ġwann, as an example of the abandoned birds.
‘Only through awareness, cooperation, and responsible action can we safeguard our unique biodiversity and the fragile ecosystems of our islands.’
