Kyra’s Mum Releases Statement In Defence Of Daughter

Kyra's Mum Releases Statement In Defence Of Daughter
May 30 2024 Share

Taking to social media, Love Island Malta Season 2 contestant Kyra Pecorella’s mum issued a statement in defence of her daughter after some of the drama seems to be directed at her.

‘Drama, drama, and more drama—that seems to be the theme of this year’s Love Island, and right now, it is mostly being directed at Kyra’, wrote Claudia Pecorella.

‘As her mum, I’m watching closely, and while I’m incredibly proud of her, it breaks my heart to see the hate she’s receiving online.’

‘And to those so-called “friends” from school who think they know Kyra—if you really knew her, you’d be lifting her up, not tearing her down.

To anyone who does know Kyra or wishes to get to know her excluding all these images portrayed online, she is a very independent girl.’

She also spoke about the situation with Jake, saying that despite initially being with Jake, Kyra may have felt that it wasn’t what she was looking for.

‘She discussed this with him and moved on. As seen on TV, Jake might have remained hopeful and this lack of space is what had driven Kyra to her comment for a private conversation.

We only get to see 45-60 minutes of 24- 48hrs worth of filming inside the villa filled with 10-12 people, and of course, it’s the most dramatic moments that make the cut.’

‘Either way, a lovely message to my daughter: Keep shining, Kyra! Enjoy every moment and we all miss you immensely. Remember, what goes around comes around.’

Olympic Anti-Sex Bed Make Return For Paris 2024

Olympic Anti-Sex Bed Make Return For Paris 2024
May 30 2024 Share

The Paris Olympics 2024, set to run from July 26 to August 11, will feature innovative “anti-sex” beds for athletes, similar to those used in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Airweave, a Japanese company, has manufactured and delivered over 16,000 modular mattresses to France in preparation for the games.

These twin-sized polyethylene beds are placed on cardboard frames designed to prevent two people from sharing a bed, yet they are sturdy enough to support athletes of any size, with a capacity of up to 440 pounds.

The term “anti-sex beds” emerged during the Tokyo Olympics when American distance runner Paul Chelimo speculated that the beds were intended to discourage athletes from engaging in sexual activities. This speculation quickly spread on social media, solidifying the nickname.

However, the primary motivation behind these beds is sustainability. The Paris Olympics organizers chose these beds to minimize environmental waste. The use of recyclable cardboard frames significantly reduces the carbon footprint, aligning with the event’s commitment to environmental excellence.

Georgina Grenon, director of environmental excellence for the organizing committee, stated that these efforts aim to demonstrate that sustainable practices are feasible on a large scale. The recyclable nature of these beds highlights a significant step toward eco-friendly solutions, contributing to the broader goal of reducing the Olympics’ environmental impact.

“It-Tewmin Tina and Tano” is a newly published children’s book in Maltese, written by Olivia Galea Seychell. This book aims to help parents and professionals support autistic children in understanding their autism diagnosis.

The inspiration for “It-Tewmin Tina and Tano” came from a social media post by a concerned mother who sought advice on explaining to her child that he is on the autism spectrum. Olivia Galea Seychell, a psychologist, was moved by this concern. Encouraged by her autistic son, Beppe Caruana, who is also a children’s book author, Olivia decided to create a story that would make the concept of autism accessible and understandable for young readers.

The narrative is crafted to resonate with children, providing them with a relatable and comforting perspective on their unique way of experiencing the world.

More than just a story, this book is a tool designed to facilitate important conversations about autism between parents, professionals, and children. By explaining what happens in the brain when someone is autistic, it helps demystify the condition and fosters a sense of acceptance and self-awareness in young readers.

“It-Tewmin Tina and Tano” is a valuable addition to the resources available for those navigating the complexities of an autism diagnosis. It offers a compassionate and informative approach to understanding autism, making it a useful resource for both parents and professionals.

Through this book, storytelling becomes a means to create a more inclusive and understanding world for all children. “It-Tewmin Tina and Tano” stands out as an essential guide for helping autistic children understand and embrace their diagnosis.
