European Labour Authority Chief Praises Malta’s Work

The European Labour Authority has praised the effectiveness and professionalism of Maltese entities in the way they operate and enforce labour regulations.

Executive Director of the European Labour Authority, Cosmin Boiangiu, held several meetings in Malta recently, including with the Parliamentary Secretariat for Social Dialogue, the Ministry for Social Policy and Children’s Rights, the Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works, as well as the Ministry for Home Affairs, Security and Employment. Discussions focused on the labour market in Malta, as well as the country’s participation in and cooperation with the European Labour Authority.
“Over the years, we have enjoyed fruitful cooperation with Malta that has yielded results in the protection of Maltese workers’ rights,” said Executive Director Cosmin Boiangiu.
“This gives me the confidence to continue working together as a Government, as it is clear that there is recognition of the solid framework we have in place, through which we can continue to protect and safeguard workers’ rights. As a country, our goal is to keep cooperating with these authorities so that the labour market in our country remains strengthened,” stated Parliamentary Secretary Dr. Andy Ellull.
A meeting with the Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure, and Public Works, Minister Chris Bonett emphasised the importance of road safety and the decisive actions needed to address the traffic challenges in Malta.
During a meeting with the Ministry for Home Affairs, Security, and Employment, Minister Byron Camilleri highlighted Malta’s achievement of having the second highest employment rate in the European Union in 2024.
