Following the bombardment of Ukraine’s capital Kyiv, EU President Roberta Metsola came out against the Russian bombing of the city, which also saw civilians being killed and injured in the attack.
‘What is happening now in Kyiv is sickening’ said Metsola. ‘It shows the world, again, the regime we are faced with: One that targets indiscriminately. One that rains terror and death down on children.’

This is criminal. They will be held to account. Ukraine will win. Europe will not look away. pic.twitter.com/0I594UlCMg

The capital city had not been bombed since the 26th of June as the war was pushed further into the bordering localities of Ukraine. However, Putin’s Russia blamed Ukraine for the recent explosions which took place on a bridge connecting Russia with annexed Crimea.
The bombardment of Kyiv follows this bridge bombing, which Ukraine has not taken responsibility for. However, Putin still labelled Ukraine as engaging in terrorist acts.
