Eriksen to be fitted with heart-starting device following cardiac arrest

Danish football star Christian Eriksen will have an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) fitted after suffering a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s Euro 2020 game against Finland on Saturday.

After receiving global support during his recovery, Eriksen stated that he felt ‘fine’ earlier this week and underwent heart examinations, resulting in the decision to have a ‘heart-starter’ implanted by Danish national team doctor Morsten Boesen.

The player reportedly accepted the decision which has received support by Danish and International specialists recommending the same treatment, with Dr. Boesen encouraging everyone to give the player peace and privacy during such a time.

PN proposes Gozitan referendum to determine Malta-Gozo tunnel

During the launch of the Nationalist Party’s health proposals for Gozo, Nationalist MP Chris Said stated that a referendum should be held for Gozitans to determine the fate of the tunnel connecting Malta and Gozo.

Said held that the PN maintains its position on the tunnel process and that studies should be held by experts and compressed simplified for the public, with a consultation to follow before Gozitans vote in a referendum.

Amongst other proposals the PN claims that, if elected, it will put a halt to the Steward Healthcare hospital and give it back to the people, with Steward employees to be retained.

Vaccination becomes mandatory for service sector workers in Moscow

Moscow has imposed measure making vaccinations mandatory for residents who work within the service sector such as restaurant staff, venue staff, taxi drivers and more.

The announcement comes from Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin and is a sign of the country’s struggle to bring the pandemic under control while President Vladimir Putin continues to claim that Russia has handled the pandemic better than most countries.

Russia currently has the sixth-highest COVID-19 case load in the world as Moscow health authorities continue to report a rise in cases across the country.

70% of adult population to be fully vaccinated ‘in the coming days’ – Fearne

According to Health Minister Chris Fearne, the country is set to hit another vaccine milestone in the coming days with 70% of adults to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Fearne revealed that children aged between 12 and 15 will begin to receive their vaccination invitations on Monday during the conference announcing the opening of Marsaxlokk’s health centre.

Speaking about the current pandemic situation in Malta, the Minister stated that it is very much “under control”, holding that we should remain vigilant and cautions when considering a ‘reopening’.
