Emiliano Martinez gets World Cup tattoo on same spot that denied France a crucial goal

Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has got a brand new tattoo of the World Cup in the same spot that denied French forward Kolo Muani a crucial late goal during the final.

The 123-minute save may be Martinez’ most important one of his life, with a goal otherwise securing a France victory as French players appeared to begin invading the pitch before it was blocked.

The Aston Villa & Argentina goalkeeper went on to deny Aurelien Tchouameni and Kingsley Coman goals during the penalty shootout, assisting his team in going on to win the much-coveted trophy after years of anticipation.

The tattoo features the three years Argentina won the World Cup, the trophy itself, a sequence of numbers and the quote “Que la pasión te lleve a la gloria”, which translates to “May passion lead you to glory.”

The controversial goalkeeper shot to fame after celebrations went viral following the World Cup win, with the polarising acts of jubilation rubbing some people the wrong way, including what has been called an unnecessary dig at French star Kylian Mbappé in the locker room.

Final sum of €5,062,415 raised for l-Istrina 2022.

The incredible sum of €5,062,415 has been raised for this year’s edition of l-Istrina.

Albeit not being the same amount as 2021’s whopping €5.8million, the Maltese population has once again poured out their generosity to help all those in need this festive season.

Following a 12-hour fundraising marathon, the sum for the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation will be going to help people whose lives depend on essential treatment.

President George Vella expressed his gratitude at the sum gathered, thanking the Maltese public for once again showing that, together, they can make a difference in the lives of many.

Porsche to replace gasoline with air and water

While electric cars have been making the rounds for some years now as various environmental organisations push for more sustainability, it seems as tough Porsche will be making a massive step forward.

For the first time, Porsche has filled up its iconic 911 sports car with a new synthetic fuel created out of just thin air and water.

Called eFuel, the air-and-water based energy system was developed by a company called Highly Innovative Fuels. This is a company which Porsche have made an investment in, and it seems as though the company will be making the best out of it for the environment.

The new fuel combines carbon which is captured from the atmosphere alongside hydrogen sourced from water to create methane. This is then converted into fuel which works the same as gasoline.

Porsche’s director of research and development Michael Steiner said that the potential of eFuels is huge. ‘There are currently more than 1.3 billion vehicles with combustion engines worldwide.’

He said that many of these will be on the roads for the decades to come and that eFuels ‘offer the owners of existing cars a nearly carbon-neutral alternative.’

King Charles’ Christmas message breaks TV viewing records

King Charles’ Christmas broadcast was the most watched Christmas TV address by a monarch on record, overcoming streaming rivals such as Netflix themselves.

A record 10.6 million viewers watched the new monarch’s broadcast on BBC One, BBC Two and ITV, which made it the most watched programme on Christmas Day.

It is also the most popular Christmas Day broadcast by a monarch in the two decades that official TV ratings records which monitor audience levels have been kept.

BBC One saw an average of 8.1 million viewers, with another 1.58 million watching via ITV and another 929,000 watching on BBC Two.

The monarch addressed the nation from St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, where the committal service of his late mother was held three months ago.

Paying tribute to his mother, the monarch addressed various topics which include the cost of living crisis as well as initiatives being created to distribute meals to those in need.
