Dubai opens world’s highest infinity pool ‘Address Beach Resort’

Dubai opens world’s highest infinity pool ‘Address Beach Resort’
Jul 24 2021 Share

Named in March as the world’s tallest infinity pool inside a building, Dubai’s new resort lets you swim 1,000 feet above sea level. Titled Address Beach Resort is a whopping 293.906 meters high, making it nine-tenths as tall as the Eiffel Tower. It is also twice as long as an Olympic-sized pool at 94.84 meters in length and 16.5 meters in width.

Despite being as impressive as it is, the pool isn’t the only Guiness World Record held by the resort. The skybridge, containing luxury apartments, is at 294.36 meters – making it the world’s highest occupied skybridge floor. A striking architectural addition to the Jumeirah skyline is the beachfront property called the Jumeirah Gate which was opened in December 2020.

Deputy CEO of Al Ain Holding Federico Rota stated that he and his company are proud to be breaking two Guiness World Record titles with the pool’s opening. The state-of-the-art construction and groundbreaking amenities set new luxury lifestyle standards internationally.

Billed as a freedom rally, some 500 protestors took to the streets of Valletta to protest the use of COVID-19 vaccines and other health restrictions. Planting themselves outside the law courts, the chants ‘no vaccine’ and ‘liberta, liberta’ could be heard as placards such as ‘my body, my responsibility’ and ‘we never stop trying to save you’ waved in the air.

Record low number of people seeking employment

Record low number of people seeking employment

Prime Minister Robert Abela celebrated a record low number of people seeking employment in Malta. Addressing a press conference during the Labour Party’s annual general meeting, Abela highlighted how the number of people registered as unemployed has fallen to record lows, even when taking into consideration the COVID-19 pandemic. Fewer than 1,600 people, according to statistics revealed by the Prime Minister, were looking for work just last week, making this a record in Malta’s employment history.

2019 saw the latest record low in June, with a low point of just 1,616. The Prime Minister attributed this success to the over €500 million COVID-19 wage supplement that helped workers employed under part-finance wages. As the pandemic forced or even shut down businesses, the wage, Abela stated, helped Malta and the government save and create jobs.

Government will not introduce new taxes in upcoming budget

Government will not introduce new taxes in upcoming budget
Jul 24 2021 Share

Prime Minister Robert Abela announced on Friday that the government will not introduce any new taxes in the upcoming Budget. Speaking at the Labour Party’s annual general conference, Abela stated that the Budget document started being drafted just a few days ago by the party whilst also declaring that no tax increases will be made. The Prime Minister emphasised the point that all taxes must be collected in order to acquire an economic and social developmental balance.

Strengthening wages and giving taxpayers what they deserve will be the focal point of the budget, the Prime Minister stated. Health, education and social expenditure will see increased, but cautionary, spending. Abela stated that where the government didn’t make the best decisions, they humbly adjusted and that they always took responsibility for the decisions taken when handling the pandemic. Despite expert warnings that Malta could lose the lives of thousands and possible 50,000 job losses, the government, Abela stated, rolled up its sleeves immediately and got to work.
