Singer star Dua Lipa has allegedly been sued for putting a paparazzi photo of herself on Instagram. According to US court documents, Dua Lipa had been snapped in a queue at an airport back in February 2019. The star went on to share the photo with her fans ‘without permission or authorisation.’ Integral Images says she profited off of the photo, as her Instagram acts as a marketing tool for her music.
$150,000 in damages and a jury trial are being sought by the suer in question. Lipa is also being prevented from committing other acts of alleged infringement as well as legal costs. The company Integral Images claimed that the star knowingly posted the photo to social media without permission. This is because, even though many people assume they can post an image in which they are the subject, copyright law means the photographer owns the rights.
