DPM Reaffirms Malta’s Commitment To Peace In Middle East

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Ian Borg reaffirmed Malta’s commitment to peace in the Middle East during a New Year’s event for ambassadors and high commissioners.
He emphasized that Malta will continue to advocate for dialogue and diplomacy as essential tools to resolve ongoing conflicts in the region.
Borg highlighted Malta’s firm stance on the Two-State Solution, describing it as the only viable and just resolution to address the legitimate aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians.
“Malta will continue to insist that the Two-State Solution is the only viable, peaceful, and just resolution,” he stated. Borg also welcomed the recent ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, expressing gratitude to Qatar, the United States, and Egypt for facilitating the development.
The Deputy Prime Minister underscored Malta’s role on the international stage in promoting stability and peace in the Middle East, particularly through its tenure on the UN Security Council.
Borg highlighted Malta’s focus on initiatives concerning children in armed conflict, women’s security, and climate change, all of which contribute to the broader goal of regional stability.
He also stressed Malta’s dedication to fostering strong bilateral relations in the Middle East, including initiatives to enhance tourism and air connectivity, such as the newly announced Malta-Qatar direct flights.
