HV Hospitality, the owner of the hotel and bungalow sites on Comino, has submitted revised plans for its redevelopment project to the Planning Authority. The new plans include a decrease in the footprint of the proposed bungalow site.

In a new press statement, HV Hospitality stated that it ‘plans to transform the Comino hotel at San Niklaw Bay and bungalows at Santa Marija Bay into a sustainable five-star wellness retreat, to be managed by the globally-acclaimed Six Senses brand.’

‘In response to the public’s feedback, the updated plans now propose a reduction of the footprint at the bungalow site too, bringing the total reduced footprint to 8,244 sqm —equivalent to the area of around 32 tennis courts.’

This comes after the original plans submitted proposed a ‘7,154 sqm reduction of the hotel site at San Niklaw Bay, counterbalanced by an additional 2,032 sqm of the bungalow site at Santa Marija Bay. This led to an overall reduction of 5,122 sqm.’

‘The buildings at the bungalow site will be receded from the foreshore, increasing public accessibility, and will be lower in height. HV Hospitality will not seek compensation for these adjustments with additional land on the site’, the statement reveals.

A spokesperson for HV Hospitality said: “Following our public exhibition, we carefully considered the concerns raised by stakeholders. Our mission has always been to find a balanced solution for this unique site—one that is mindful of environmental sustainability and respects the natural beauty of the area. The amendments we have submitted this week successfully strike the balance between the public’s concerns, the site requirements, and the touristic needs set out by the concession and local plans.”

Moment Lifeguards Save Four Kids Struggling At Sea

Moment Lifeguards Save Four Kids Struggling At Sea

A video shared by Malta Red Cross shows the moment two lifeguards jumped into the water to assist four children who were finding it difficult to swim back to shore at Għajn Tuffieħa.

The video shows rather large waves pummelling the beach, with the children facing difficulty swimming back to shore.

The lifeguards managed to return the swimmers back to safety and released an appeal to social media to abide by rules set by lifeguards.

Malta Red Cross had set up a double red flag earlier during the day, which means that it is considered dangerous to attempt to swim at that time.

Despite the danger, the lifeguards did not waste any time in diving in for a rescue. Whilst commending the lifeguards for their work, it is also important for the public to heed the warnings and be familiar with any relevant safety information.

Celebrations for the feast of St Paul in Rabat saw music by Bon Jovi synchronised to a spectacle of paper confetti for attendees at noon.

As the band entered the principal town square, the feast enthusiasts and celebrators were greeted by a spectacle of music and colour, organised by the Żgħażagħ Rabtin Pawlini.

Playing Bon Jovi’s ‘It’s My Life’, the display showcased the dedication which goes into the preparation of village feasts and love of culture which survives in every Maltese and Gozitan locality.

Among the attendees was Minister for Inclusion, Voluntary Work and Consumer Rights Julia Farrugia Portelli, who shared snapshots from the colourful celebrations herself.
