Government is hiding lack of medicine stock issue says PN

Gvern is hiding lack of medicine stock issue says PN
Dec 28 2022 Share

The Nationalist Party has alleged that the government is trying to sweep away the problem of there being a lack of medicine stock due to them not publishing a list of the out-of-stock products for almost two months.

Opposition MPs and spokespersons Claudette Buttigieg, Ian Vassallo and Stephen Spiteri said that the provision of insulin was deemed irregular over the past few weeks and that it did not meet the needs of patients around Malta and Gozo.

The PN said in a statement that the shortage has caused anxiety in diabetic patients and they families for months. This is due to Novorapid (Aspart), which is a type of insulin crucial for diabetic patients, Creon, Latanoprost, Goserelin injections and Galvus (for diabetes type 2) are reportedly out of stock.

When the list was last published, the PN said, it showed that at least 25 medicines were out of stock. The Opposition went on to urge the government to not only be more efficient when it comes to buying and distributing medicine, but to be more transparent on the matter for the sake of patients and their families.

Man jumps into Triton Fountain to reportedly pick tourist coins
Dec 28 2022 Share

A photo uploaded to local Facebook page ‘Malta Diżastru Totali’ shows a man in the Triton Fountain reportedly picking up coins thrown in by tourists visiting the island’s capital city.

The post was met with mixed reactions, with some finding it absolutely hilarious whilst others reflecting upon the possible explanation as to why the man decided to do so.

One commenter hinted at the rising cost of living, saying that the man was willing to face the cold water just to get some coins and be able to get some food.

Another suggested that this behaviour could become more common due to the aforementioned cost of living crisis.

Another simply pointed out that the man had dropped something into the fountain and had to jump in to retrieve it. It is as of yet unconfirmed by any source as to why this person jumped into the fountain.
