Legendary Italian singer and actor Albano Antonio Carrisi, better known as Al Bano, will be featured on local carnival company ‘Triton Carnival Company’s float this year!

Al Bano sent out a message of support for the company, thanking the team for their hard work and for including him among the many legends from Italian history and culture.

Al Bano is following in the footsteps of Buffon, who also sent a message of support for his feature on the float.

The float, entitled Una Notte Con Le Stelle, will feature various Italian figures, including Gerry Scotti, Da Vinci , Roberto Benigni, Romina Power and more!

Al Bano has deeper ties to Malta, having performed last year during the first edition of ‘Una Notte Con Le Stelle’, singing his well known ‘Felicita’ to thousands of Maltese fans.

Government To Review Medication Formulary For Improved Access To Mental Health Medications

In a recent press release from the Ministry for Health and Active Ageing, the Minister Jo Etienne Abela announced that the government’s medication formulary will be reviewed to improve access to medications for mental health care, as well as enhanced prescription rights for specialists and family doctors.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has described mental health as a state of well-being that enables individuals to realise their potential, manage the stresses of life, work productively, and contribute to their communities.

Minister Jo Etienne Abela highlighted that evidence has shown medical advancements to be effective in the prevention and management of mental health conditions.

Minister Jo Etienne Abela added that, through the Mental Health Strategy for Malta 2020-2030, the government has been ensuring that those in need receive the appropriate care and support in a community environment through community-based care strategies.

He further stated that, under the Mental Health Strategy for Malta 2020-2030, the government has been ensuring that those in need of receiving the right care and support can receive it directly through a community-based care strategies emended by the government strategies.

Minister Jo Etienne Abela further explained that, in line with this, the Maltese Government is reviewing and updating the Government Formularies to provide access to the latest evidence-based treatments.

The review also granted enhanced prescription rights to specialists and family doctors, enabling them to submit applications for medicine entitlements for a range of mental health conditions. Additionally, specialists and family doctors were given access to specialised mental health services, both within community for mental health clinics and other mental health facilities.

“This initiative aims to simplify access to treatment and ensure that patients receive timely care directly within their communities. The National Health System is fostering a more integrated and holistic approach to care, ultimately leading to improved mental health outcomes,” the Minister Jo Etienne Abela concluded.
