Ann Agius Ferrante, who was Malta’s first Nationalist Party woman MP, has passed away aged 97.

The passing was announced by European Parliament President Roberta Metsola on social media, who described her as a ‘trailblazer’ and ‘formidable.’

Metsola revealed that the first thing she did when she was elected as the European Parliament’s First Vice-President was write to her.

‘I thanked her for making the path easier, for enduring so that my generation would not have to, and to promise her that I will play my part in making it easier for those who come after me. A grateful Malta will miss her. May she rest in peace’ wrote Metsola.

Agius Ferrante was also given tribute by Opposition Leader Bernard Grech, who said that she always encouraged those who wanted to contribute to society to not let anything discourage them from doing so.

Other Nationalist MPs gave tribute to her, including Eve Borg Bonello, the youngest MP ever elected in Malta, also on the PN ticket.

Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo shared images of the banners and leaflets at the football hub and stadium – but that’s not all!

Maltese traditional food was served to those attending the match before and after the same match, which saw the Red Devils emerge victorious with a score of 1-0 over yesterday’s opponents.
