Darren Carabott Highlights Daily Struggles Of Maltese Life In 2025

Nationalist MP Darren Carabott took to Facebook to share a candid reflection on life in Malta in 2025, questioning what it truly means to be Maltese today.
In his post, Carabott said there are days when he stops to think about the fast-paced reality people are living in — one where time feels short, and the pressure to have everything “now” is constant.
He criticised the Government for portraying only the “beautiful side” of life, while ignoring daily struggles.
He highlighted rising frustrations such as endless traffic and the anxiety of arriving on time, soaring costs of living without equivalent wage increases, and the challenge of saving for a home deposit.
Even when securing a bank loan, he noted, repayments can consume a significant portion of income for decades.
Carabott also lamented the growing number of tall, grey buildings “without aesthetics,” prioritising more flats over quality spaces.
“These are the problems of the Maltese generation in 2025,” he wrote, adding that while past generations faced their own challenges, today’s realities need urgent solutions. The first step, he said, is recognising these issues — something the Government rarely admits.
“Life in Malta is beautiful, yes, but it can be much better,” Carabott concluded.
