Danger Warning Issued For Ta’ Marija Cave at Ġnejna Due To Falling Rocks

The Malta Sea Ranger Unit has issued a safety warning regarding the Ta’ Marija cave, located just outside Ġnejna, following a serious incident involving falling rocks.

A member of the public reported that her daughter narrowly avoided injury after a rockfall at the site, prompting an immediate investigation by the rangers.

Upon visiting the location, rangers noted clear signs of recent rockfalls and observed visible cracks forming above the cave entrance a strong indication of increasing geological instability.

The Malta Sea Ranger Unit stated,“We wish to thank Transport Malta, who immediately confirmed that the site will be included in the Notice to Mariners.”

They added, “It takes just a split second for a large piece of rock to fall, and your life matters more than that one selfie photo!”
