The beloved HMV sign that graced the façade of D’Amato Records in Valletta for decades has made a spectacular comeback – with not one, but two appearances!
After a construction mishap involving a rogue crane left the iconic perspex sign smashed in July, music lovers feared the worst. But fear not – restoration magic has worked wonders.
In October, a meticulously crafted replica of the sign, costing €5,000, took its rightful place outside the store. It’s so spot-on that passersby might think it’s the original. But here’s the twist – the real deal has also made a triumphant return!
After extensive restoration by the experts at Prevarti Ltd, the original sign was finally delivered back to D’Amato Records yesterday, 12th December. Now safely displayed indoors, it stands as a testament to Valletta’s musical history – and a survivor of world wars, time, and a rogue crane’s wrath.
Next time you’re in Valletta, swing by D’Amato Records to witness this double dose of music nostalgia – one shining bright outside, and the other preserved for future generations indoors. 🎵
