Malta’s very own oldest records shop took to social media to poke fun at Partit ABBA making news headlines after the leader, Ivan Grech Mintoff, threw eggs at Prime Minister Robert Abela during a political speech.

D’Amato Records posted a photo of ‘ABBA: Vinyl Album Box Set’, with the photo captioned: ‘just because apparently ABBA are being mentioned more frequently in Malta at the moment…’

D’Amato records is known for such commentary, even posting a Hans Zimmer soundtrack set from the movie ‘DUNE’ due to Malta’s ongoing desert weather.

In a separate press statement, Partit ABBA alleged that the government has signed the Peace Partnership with NATO and sent Maltese soldiers to military missions despite Malta’s neutrality clause.

Grech Mintoff was removed from the stage as he approached the Prime Minister, with the latter asking the rally audience to keep calm and continuing on with his speech after an applause of support.

Mar 27 2024 Share

If you were planning on dozing off for an extra hour this Easter Sunday, we’ve got bad news for you!

The Department of Information (Malta) has issued a reminder that the island will be switching to summer time this upcoming Saturday.

‘The public is advised that winter time in Malta this year will finish at 02:00am on March’s last Sunday – 31st March 2024.’

This means that clocks will advance by one hour to save on daylight time as we approach summer. On the bright side (no pun intended), it will get darker much later during the day.
