Customs Officials have discovered €13,000 in undeclared cash with assistance from the customs sniffer dog in a passenger’s luggage at the Malta International Airport.
The passenger was bound for a country within the European Union and, Sophie the sniffer dog reacted to the passenger’s luggage.
The passenger was asked by customs officials whether he was carrying excess cash and the passenger denied it. Upon inspection, €13,090 were discovered inside the luggage.
The passenger was fined there and then since it is illegal to enter, transit or depart from Malta with more than €10,000 in cash unless they are declared.
