In an official statement following the news breaking, Clayton Bartolo said that he is proud to be leaving a tourism sector that stands ‘on solid foundations’.
‘From an industry shattered by the pandemic, we recovered ahead of schedule, and this year’s results are set to be the best ever recorded.’
‘We invested heavily in our tourism product and educational initiatives to improve everything Malta and Gozo can offer as a distinct Mediterranean destination. At the same time, we launched plans for essential reforms in this vital economic sector—reforms necessary to ensure the sustainability of this industry.’
Thanking the industry, stakeholders and tourism entities, he said that over the past four years Malta achieved ‘other successful results in the film sector.’
‘This industry still has room to grow and flourish locally, and I believe that with good guidance, it can reach its full potential. I wish all those involved in this industry success and thank them for their efforts.’
‘Above all, I thank the Maltese and Gozitan people, particularly the residents of the 12th and 8th districts, for always welcoming me into your homes. I will continue to be your voice in Parliament.’
