Civil Protection Malta Rescues Youth In Sliema Swimming Incident

A coordinated rescue operation unfolded yesterday afternoon in Sliema, after a youth found themselves in difficulty while swimming. Civil Protection Malta (CPD) teams from Fire Stations 5 and 11 were immediately dispatched to the scene following an emergency call.
The CPD rescue team acted swiftly, assisting the individual and safely transporting them using one of Civil Protection’s marine assets. The youth was then transferred to the Emergency Department at Mater Dei Hospital for further medical treatment.
Civil Protection Malta thanked all those involved in the operation, particularly the Malta Red Cross and the emergency medical staff at Mater Dei, whose support was crucial in ensuring the incident was handled effectively.
The CPD continues to remind the public to exercise caution while swimming, especially during the summer months when risks are heightened. Their teams remain on standby to respond to emergencies and protect public safety.
