The initiative offered a creative and inclusive platform for children to voice their ideas and hopes for the Malta they wish to grow up in. The event was attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation Keith Azzopardi Tanti, as well as Former President of Malta, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, both of whom engaged with the children and praised their insightful contributions.

Parliamentary Secretary Azzopardi Tanti remarked, “Today we saw that children are not only capable of imagining a better Malta they are eager to help build it. The Vision Malta 2050 process must reflect their creativity, their sense of justice, and their desire for a more sustainable and inclusive future. Their voices matter, and they deserve to be heard.”

Echoing this sentiment, Coleiro Preca said, “Children are not just the leaders of tomorrow they are active citizens today. Their ideas reflect the kind of Malta we should all strive for: greener, safer, and more inclusive. This initiative marks a significant step towards intergenerational dialogue and shared responsibility. We must continue empowering our children to dream, speak out, and help shape our nation’s future.”

Roberta Albanese Dalli from the Vision Malta 2050 team noted that the children’s aspirations send a clear message saying, “this is a strong and committed generation in whose hands the future of the country can be trusted.”

The event took place in a vibrant, interactive environment, featuring live science demonstrations, hands-on activities, and workshops designed to encourage critical and creative thinking about Malta’s future.

The children expressed a broad vision that included child-friendly open spaces, sustainable transport, pedestrian zones, accessibility for persons with disabilities, inclusivity, and respect for culture and diversity among other themes.

The public consultation for Vision Malta 2050 remains open until 9th September 2025. Members of the public are encouraged to share their ideas by visiting envision2050.gov.mt.
