Chairperson of ADPD, Sandra Gauci Urged Malta to Take Clear Stand Against Genocide

Sandra Gauci, Chairperson of ADPD–The Green Party, has called on Malta to use every opportunity to send a clear message against the ongoing genocide committed by Israel in Palestine.

“I understand that Malta’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest is significant for many people, particularly as the event is watched by over a billion viewers each year,” Gauci said. “Precisely because it is so widely followed, it is also an important platform to convey powerful messages. This time, that message should be one of a united Europe standing against the genocide in Palestine.”
Gauci argued that Malta should not participate if Israel is allowed to compete. “Performing arts have always been a vital means of communicating important political messages, and this is a historic moment where music can deliver its statement through silence—a silence in support of an entire people being destroyed daily. We at ADPD–The Green Party urge PBS and the government to make a clear decision: Malta should withdraw if Israel participates, in the interest of consistency and, above all, human life. It is the very least we can do as a nation: a clear signal of disapproval and condemnation.”
