Call For Innovative Digital Transport Solutions In Malta

The Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works has issued a call for innovative digital solutions aimed at improving transport management across Malta. The Expression of Interest is open to individuals, companies and academics as part of the government’s “Reshaping Our Mobility” initiative.
Announced by Minister Chris Bonett during a visit to World Pro Racing, the initiative highlights the use of advanced simulators featuring 3D renders of Maltese roads developed by simtech.dev. These are being used for training, education and road safety promotion.
Applicants with selected ideas may be eligible for financial support. Individuals and academics can receive up to €20,000 per project, while startups, SMEs and companies may be awarded up to €50,000. Projects may include intelligent parking systems, sustainable mobility schemes like carpooling, integration platforms for transport modes, road safety technology and connectivity solutions.
Beyond funding, chosen applicants will receive mentoring, access to relevant data and infrastructure, and the opportunity to test their projects in real-world settings.
Transport Malta CEO Kurt Farrugia described the initiative as a national challenge to bring forward Malta’s most creative and technologically advanced ideas. He emphasised the agency’s commitment to building a transport system that is more efficient, sustainable and innovation-driven.
