Updated Statement:
In an official statement, Malta Public Transport confirmed that a minor incident occurred at Ġnejna Bay at around 7:50am this morning involving Bus 619.
‘While attempting to navigate around several parked cars that were obstructing the bus’s route, the driver was left with no option but to manoeuvre the vehicle away from the parking area’, MPT explained.
‘This was done as the safest course of action to avoid the risk of damage. Unfortunately, the bus became stuck in the sand near the beach during the manoeuvre.’
‘There were no injuries reported, and the driver immediately contacted our control room in line with company procedures. A mechanic was promptly dispatched to assist, and recovery was underway in a short time.’
‘This incident is deeply regretted, and the company apologises for any inconvenience this might have caused.’
