The incident occurred at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, approximately an hour north of Pittsburgh. The gunman was swiftly “neutralised” by the Secret Service, according to the agency’s chief of communications, Anthony Guglielmi.

Bethel Park, Crooks’ hometown, is a predominantly white, affluent city in the southern suburbs of Pittsburgh. Pennsylvania voter records indicate that a Thomas Matthew Crooks, matching the shooter’s address and birth date, was a registered Republican, though the timing of this registration is uncertain.

At a Saturday night news conference, law enforcement officials stated that the investigation was nearing a positive identification of the shooter, who was not carrying identification at the time of the incident. State police Lt. Col. George Bivens noted that the shooter had been tentatively identified, pending biometric confirmation.

Authorities are now focused on uncovering the motive behind the attack and determining if Crooks had any accomplices.

The Trump campaign has stated that the presidential hopeful is reportedly “fine”, with some anticipating that the incident could propel Trump to a total victory.

The Malta Football Association (MFA) recently honoured national player Stephania Farrugia for reaching a significant milestone: her 100th cap with the Maltese national team.

In a brief ceremony before the UEFA European Qualifier match against Northern Ireland, Farrugia was awarded a commemorative cap by Malta FA General Secretary Dr. Angelo Chetcuti and Director of Women’s Football Pierre Brincat. The event, held at the Centenary Stadium, celebrated Farrugia’s achievement of 100 international appearances.

Farrugia’s milestone match took place away against Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the game against Northern Ireland marking her first home match since reaching this milestone. Farrugia became only the second Maltese female footballer to reach this milestone, following in the footsteps of Dorianne Theuma.

Farrugia’s national team career began on February 23, 2007, in a friendly against Switzerland. This debut was particularly special as it was under the guidance of her coach, Pierre Brincat, who now plays a significant role in Maltese women’s football.

Throughout her career, Farrugia has been a stalwart in defense and an offensive contributor, scoring five goals for the national team. Her first international goal came during the Aphrodite Cup against Latvia on March 18, 2015.

The Malta FA and the entire football community wish Stephania Farrugia continued success and look forward to many more outstanding performances from this dedicated athlete. Her commitment and achievements serve as an inspiration to aspiring footballers across the islands.

Congrats Stephania!
