Brand-New National Record: Malta’s Largest Gingerbread Man

The Malta Records recently announced a new national record for the Maltese Islands: The Largest Gingerbread Man.

This follows their earlier announcement of the record attempt, stating that if successful, it would introduce a brand-new category for records related to the Christmas season.

The record was presented yesterday during ‘Il-Pjazza fil-Milied’, a Christmas village set up in Fgura.

Completely made of dough and royal icing, the gingerbread man weighed an impressive 350kg and was 5.26 meters tall and 4.65 meters wide.

Camilleri Caterers worked tirelessly for the four days leading up to the event, spending around 12 hours a day on preparations, even though they had been working on the record for over a month. Yesterday, they managed to assemble the gingerbread man on-site in just two and a half hours.

The Fgura Local Council, along with Camilleri Caterers, were thanked and congratulated for their dedication to such a large-scale project.

One clock displays the correct time, whereas the other one shows the wrong time. The idea dates back hundreds of years and the scope of this was to confuse the devil so that mass service isn’t disrupted.

Malta’s Biggest Sausage Dog Meetup Breaks Records Again

It was a paws-itively adorable scene in Dingli on Sunday 15th December as Malta’s dachshund community came together to break their own record for the largest gathering of sausage dogs on the island. Over 63 dachshunds strutted their festive stuff at Santa’s Train Ride, organised by Għaqda Talent Dingli – Ċentru għall-Arti u Kultura.

This quirky tradition has become a yearly highlight, with the group breaking their own record year after year. What started as a fun idea has grown into a heartwarming event that unites dog lovers and their furry companions in the festive spirit.

Decked out in Santa hats, reindeer ears, and even little elf outfits, the dachshunds were the stars of the show, spreading smiles and holiday cheer to everyone who attended. From tiny pups to seasoned veterans, the four-legged participants made it a day to remember.
