Boris Johnson’s father is seeking French citizenship after Brexit confirmation

Stanley Johnson, the father of British PM Boris Johnson has received nods from across Europe after his bid for French citizenship following Britain’s departure from the EU.

Previously a British MP who backed the UK’s stay in the Union, Johnson received praise by French secretary for European Affairs Clement Beaune, who highlighted that this move is a sign that most Britons still love Europe.

Johnson, 80, is the son of a French-born mother and grandmother, stating that his bid for French citizenship was an act of reclaiming what he once had.

Malta has registered 88 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 1,810 swab tests, while 33 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

From yesterday’s cases; 23 cases were family members of previously known cases, 7 cases were contact of positive work colleagues, 9 cases were direct contacts with other positive cases and 7 cases were from social gatherings with other positive cases.

To date, Malta has registered 12,997 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 11,211 have recovered, 220 died and 1,566 are still active.

Romanian man sustains serious injuries after being hit by hammer in St. Julian’s attack

A 35-year-old man from Romania was rushed to Mater Dei after sustaining serious injuries from a hammer attack in St. Julian’s on Friday afternoon.

The Malta Police Force stated that the Romanian, along with a 45-year-old man from Colombia informed the police regarding an attack at approximately 3.15 in the afternoon.

It is also reported that another 35-year old-Maltese man approached the police soon after reporting an argument with two people.

Former opposition leader and current Nationalist MP Adrian Delia dropped jaws on last night’s Dar Tal-Providenza fund-raiser as he presented a €500,000 donation cheque from Tunisian investment company, Catco Group Capital Investment.
