The motorcyclist who lost his life in today’s tragic hit-and-run in Birkirkara has been identified as 42-year-old Khim Bahadur Pun, a father of two young children from Nepal.

Mr Pun had been living in Malta for more than three years, working as a food courier to support his family. He is the eighteenth person to die on Malta’s roads this year.

According to police reports, the fatal collision occurred early on Sunday morning along Triq Salvu Psaila, when a Maserati Levante crashed into Mr Pun’s Kymco motorbike.

The luxury vehicle then struck three parked cars before those inside fled the scene on foot.

In a statement, NRNA NCC Malta president Rems Khanal expressed deep sorrow at Mr Pun’s untimely death, announcing a fundraising campaign to repatriate his body to Nepal and calling on the Nepali community in Malta and Gozo to assist.

Authorities have confirmed that the suspected driver, a 17-year-old boy, along with two passengers, has since been arrested.
