A shocking eyewitness account of Bernice Cassar’s murder was given in court today as the compilation of evidence against the suspect, Roderick Cassar, continued.

According to the MCAST worker, who was present at the Paola building at the time of the incident, he and a colleague were talking around 7am when they noticed a concerning situation outside.

The worker described the attacker dragging Bernice out of a car and slapping her in the face, as if trying to revive her. Despite the woman calling for help and the worker calling 112, he heard gunshots shortly after.

The aggressor then fled the scene at a high speed, leaving Bernice on the side of the road where she was later found. The eyewitness also revealed hearing cries for help and witnessing a man attempting to intervene before being sent away by Roderick.

Bernice, a mother of two, was tragically murdered by her ex-partner despite having previously reported instances of domestic violence to the police.

Despite not all of them winning honorary titles, the guests of the 65th Grammy Awards ceremony did not go home empty-handed, as they each received extravagant gift bags filled with expensive goodies.

The contents of last year’s gift bags ranged from lounge slippers and floral arrangements to a special edition wine and plastic surgery treatments worth $10,000.

This year’s gift bags, put together by Los Angeles marketing company Distinctive Assets for the 23rd year, are said to be worth an incredible $60,000. The most expensive item in the bag, a Bugaboo Fox 3 Stroller worth over $1,200, is expected to benefit celebrity parents who are expecting a baby this year.

The bag also reportedly featured cosmetic treatments worth up to $10,000, as well as a gift card for liposuction treatments from Art Lipo plastic surgery.

Luxury skincare brand, Miage, was once again part of organising the gift bag after hosting the Grammy Gift Lounge last year. This year, celebrities at the event received a full set of Miage Skincare products valued at $515.

The Grammy Gift Lounge, hosted by Tom’s Watch Bar @ LA Live, was open to presenters and performers for three days leading up to the ceremony, allowing them to pick up their gift bags and other gifted items.

NBC reports that the gift bag also included items such as turbo-flex sunglasses by Aspex Eyewear, a fine bubble showerhead worth $325, a heart-shaped brush by ReFa, a cordless robot pool cleaner by Aiper, a not-yet-released robot dog named Dog-E by WowWee toy company, and Swarovski crystal-encrusted flip-flops by Haivanas.

In total, the celebrity’s Grammy gift bag was reported to have more than 50 items. Lash Fary, the owner of Distinctive Assets, stated, “We’re excited to be back in Los Angeles and to once again be creating amazing Grammy gift magic.”

All EU vacancy ads must include salary prior to employment

Feb 6 2023 Share

The EU has recently approved a directive that gives European workers the right to know their salary details before starting a job or attending any job-related interviews.

This decision was made after the European Parliament and the EU Council agreed on the Pay Transparency Directive, increasing workers’ rights throughout the EU.

MEP Cyrus Engerer described this agreement as a big win for European workers and encouraged member state governments to swiftly implement the new law.

Job advertisements must now include the salary attached to the position, and this information must be provided before any interview takes place.

This directive addresses the gender pay gap in large companies by introducing a new mechanism to resolve the issue. Engerer stated that it is unacceptable for workers doing the same work to be paid differently and that this law highlights the new rights of workers and the remedies that must be given to those who have been discriminated against.

The Pay Transparency Directive must be in effect in all EU member states within the next three years.
