Barbers Offer Free Service To Woman Needing Cut At Hospital

In a post shared on ‘Are You Being Served? (Malta and Gozo) Original, a woman asked if there were any barbers who went to Mater Dei Hospital to give haircuts and beard shaves – most likely for a loved one of hers.

Among those commenting, two stood out.

Andre Massa commented, saying: ‘If you don’t manage to set it up with the hospital, tell me and I’ll come free of charge on Monday when my shop is closed.’

Another, Luc Brin, also offered free service should the woman not settle with the hospital.

The former comment received upwards of 1.1K reactions, with the latter also amassing up to 150 likes as of time of writing, with many praising the barbers for their kindness and service.

Graduated In Management, Came To Malta To Work As Cleaner

On yesterday’s episode, the AWLA team met with Charlie, a man from the Philippines who, despite having graduated in Management, came to Malta to work as a cleaner.

Charlie explains the process of having moved to Malta and how he views the opportunity as a stepping stone in his career.

He also revealed that he earns around €700 to €800 a month (excluding over-time), saying that back home he paid around €4,000 to make the necessary arrangements.

Saying that he was treated very well at his job, Charlie made the move from cleaner to carer and noted an obvious raise in pay.

He makes it a priority to send some of his money back home to his parents to help them eat and live better as he does in Malta. He says that despite the timezone difference he tries to contact them everyday via social media.

Mużika Mużika Festival Announces Top 30 Songs For 2025 Edition

Festivals Malta has officially closed submissions for the fifth edition of the Muzika Muzika festival, scheduled for March 27-29, 2025. This year saw an impressive array of applications from talented artists, composers, and authors, reflecting the festival’s prestigious reputation.

In the first phase of the selection process, a jury reviewed all submitted songs, with the assistance of a government notary. From these entries, 30 standout songs were chosen to advance to the next stage. During the live auditions, these tracks will be performed in front of a different jury, which will ultimately select the final 16 songs to compete in next March’s festival.

The shortlisted songs are:

Man Using Marsa Residence For Drug Trafficking Arrested

A person allegedly using a residence in Marsa for drug trafficking was arrested after a coordinated effort between different divisions in the police corps.

Yesterday, at around 1200hrs, police noticed the suspect, a 49 year old man, exiting the residence in Triq Callus.

As the police approached him, the man noticed their presence and threw away a bag as he entered a car.

The man was immediately arrested and substances in the bag were found which are suspected to be cocaine and heroin.

An amount of money in cash was also found on the man’s person, whereas other objects were found in the residence which form part of the investigation.

The man is being kept in the police lock up and was arraigned in court today.
