Taking to social media, the man behind the iconic local meme of ‘squats fuq il-l*b* banju’, revealed that the bath tub has gotten the axe, marking the end of an era.

The video shows the room under refurbishment, with the bath tub sadly gone from the picture.

He paid tribute to the meme by sharing a clip of that ever iconic moment, and then proceeded to explain that he has fully recovered from the injury he sustained after falling into the tub.

He also acknowledged how he became a meme and ended up suffering from PTSD from the event.

Maltese MEPs and new European Commissioner Glenn Micallef held a Secret Santa gift exchange at the European Parliament, sharing festive cheer amongst each other.

The MEPs all received hilarious gifts from each other, with Alex Agius Saliba receiving a power bank from David Casa, Thomas Bajada received a pizza cutter from Peter Agius and Daniel Attard received a ceramic bowl for salt from Glenn Micallef.

Meanwhile Glenn himself received a mug saying ‘ghamiltha habib’ from Thomas (a nod at his recent appointment), Peter received a sheep soft toy from Alex and David received socks from Daniel.

Dr Maria Azzopardi has just been appointed the new General Secretary for the Malta Football Association.

This makes here the first woman to hold this prestigious role. In this position, Dr Azzopardi will be assisted by Rodney Pisani, who was appointed Deputy General Secretary.

Dr. Azzopardi, a former Malta FA Player of the Year (2003/04), represented Rabat Ajax, Melita, and Hibernians FC, earning 33 caps for Malta’s Women’s National Team (2005–2017).

Elected as the Malta FA’s first female Vice President in March 2024, she now serves as General Secretary. A seasoned sports lawyer with a Doctorate in Law and a Master’s in Sports Law, she has worked with various prominent legal institutions.

‘I am honoured and pleased to be appointed as the General Secretary of the Malta FA’, said Azzopardi in a statement.

‘I am committed to serving our members with the same dedication and integrity I have always demonstrated, striving to repay the trust placed in me. Inspired by the strong foundations and good practices established by my predecessor, I am motivated to build on this legacy while upholding the values and passion that have guided my career and shaped my journey in football.’

Local Retired Horses To Get Brand New Stable Block

EquestriMalta will officially be sponsoring a brand new stable block within RMJ Horse Rescue for locally retired horses or those healing from injuries.

The stable block will be completed in 2025 and will immediately begin to house retired sports horses within stabling of the highest standard.

‘EquestriMalta is Malta’s equine sport authority and has established itself as an enabler to good practices and initiatives through the numerous incentives it has offered over the past three years to the sport of polo, horse racing, show jumping and dressage’, explained RMJ.

‘While already applauding the efforts made by many horse owners who choose to retire their horse, we are now confident that through this project we will be able to encourage more owners to safeguard their horses’ wellbeing even once they are retired and not only while they are still competitive.’
