The Ball of the August Moon, a traditional event held at Verdala Palace on the first Saturday of August, was organised this year under the Presidency of Myriam Spiteri Debono in aid of The Malta Community Chest Fund.

During the event, President Spiteri Debono expressed heartfelt thanks to the attendees, emphasising that their contributions are vital for the Malta Community Chest Fund to continue supporting those in need, including chemotherapy patients.

Speaking at the event, the President conveyed gratitude on behalf of those unable to express it themselves, stating, “If you could see the eyes of those who, in their hour of need, come knocking at our door, and whom we are able to help thanks to your support, you would certainly feel that you are making a noble gesture to others.”

She also acknowledged the ongoing support from individuals and companies that assist the Malta Community Chest Fund throughout the year.

President Spiteri Debono also praised the efforts of the Ball’s organising committee, chaired by Marchesino Daniel de Petri Testaferrata, for ensuring the event’s success. Marchesino Testaferrata, in turn, extended his gratitude to the companies and entities that contributed to the successful organisation of this year’s Ball.

He expresses his anger about the situation and states how we’re meant to be  a society that is moving forward rather than backwards but the amount of judgemental looks made him feel like he was being singled out . He mentioned different situations that he’s experienced , some being how just because he has tattoos he was the only one stopped at a pool day to check their bag for alcohol and substances as according to the security he looked like he would carry those. He also mentioned how he can’t even go out to eat for dinner as his experience is ruined due to people passing judgemental looks as if he is going to rob the restaurant as he states.

He emphasises how our Maltese society is behind about these things, as people make assumptions that just because you have a lot of tattoos, you are suddenly a criminal.
