Bail For Driver Charged With Involuntary Homicide In Valletta Crash
Local

Benjamin Chetcuti, the 23 year old driver resident of Paola who was charged with involuntary homicide of a woman in a car crash on Sunday evening, has reportedly been granted bail.

The accident saw mother of four Mildred Azzopardi lose her life after she was caught between the Subaru Impreza driven by Chetcuti and a stationary Ford Fiesta parked on the street.

Chetcuti denied the charges, including driving under influence and grievously injuring another man, with his defence filing a request for bail.

The prosecution objected over concerns of potential tampering with evidence and due to the nature of the case.

The court granted bail under the conditions that Chetcuti sign in daily at the Paola Police Station, post a €2,000 deposit and provide a personal guarantee of €20,000.
