Germany, Italy and France have joined the ranks of other countries to suspend the AstraZeneca shot on Monday while WHO safety experts are to discuss the vaccine on Tuesday, after many blood clot fears have arisen surrounding the jab.
WHO, AstraZeneca and European Medicines Agency have so far insisted the shot is safe for use and shut down links between the blood clotting side effects and the vaccine.
WHO scientist Soumya Swaminathan stated that the organisation does not want the public to panic and even suggests that countries continue to utilise AstraZeneca as part of the global vaccination campaign continues.
WHO and EMA are to discuss the vaccine’s safety, followed by a European regulator meeting two days later. Indonesia has also delayed the rollout and Venezuela announced not authorising the jab due to complication fears.
