ŻIBEL MALTA TEAM TURNS BOAT BREAKDOWN INTO COASTAL CLEAN-UP AT MISTRA

A planned dive clean-up mission by Żibel Malta took an unexpected turn last week after the team’s boat broke down, but the setback did not stop the volunteers from taking action.

The dive team was heading out for an underwater clean-up when the boat suddenly stopped working. While two team members managed to safely return the boat to the marina, the rest of the team decided to continue with their environmental efforts by carrying out a coastal clean-up along the Mistra coastline.

The team collected waste and debris from the shoreline, turning what could have been a cancelled activity into another opportunity to help protect Malta’s coastal environment.

Żibel Malta highlighted the team’s determination to continue with the clean-up despite the unexpected disruption, demonstrating that even a broken-down boat could not stop their efforts to keep Malta’s coastline clean.

The coastal clean-up was kindly funded by Transport Malta, supporting the team’s work to remove litter and promote greater care for Malta’s marine and coastal environment.

The initiative serves as another example of the commitment of local volunteers and environmental organisations to protecting Malta’s coastline and marine surroundings.
