Zelensky to Meet Trump in Florida as Kyiv Endures Heavy Russian Strikes

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to meet Donald Trump in Florida on Sunday for fresh talks aimed at ending nearly four years of war between Ukraine and Russia.
The meeting, due to take place at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence, comes amid intensified Russian attacks on Kyiv and will focus on an updated US-brokered peace plan, alongside separate proposals for American security guarantees for Ukraine. Moscow has yet to endorse the plan.
The talks follow a heavy wave of Russian missile and drone strikes on the Ukrainian capital over the weekend. Ukrainian authorities said a 10-hour barrage late on Friday killed two people and injured at least 32, with further strikes reported on Saturday night. Zelensky said the attacks demonstrate that Moscow “doesn’t want peace”.
Zelensky is expected to raise security guarantees and possible territorial concessions, including proposals related to the eastern Donbas region, where Russia currently controls most of Donetsk and nearly all of Luhansk. He has suggested the creation of a “free economic zone” as a potential compromise.
The discussions will also cover a revised 20-point peace plan, replacing an earlier 28-point draft criticised for favouring Russia. Zelensky has described the new version as “90% complete”, while Trump warned that no agreement would move forward without his approval.
European and NATO leaders have reiterated their support for Kyiv ahead of the talks.
