Emergency rescue teams from Fire Stations 1 and 5 were deployed yesterday afternoon following an incident at St Peter’s Pool in Delimara, after an individual required urgent medical assistance.

Upon arrival, Civil Protection Malta rescue personnel, including two rescue swimmers, assessed the situation and assisted the youth from the shoreline to a Civil Protection Department (CPD) rigid-hulled inflatable boat, Delta 2. The evacuation was carried out using an inflatable stretcher due to the difficult access conditions in the area.

The casualty was then transported by sea to St Thomas Bay in Marsaskala, where an ambulance was on standby to provide immediate medical care. The individual was subsequently transferred to Mater Dei Hospital for further treatment.

Civil Protection Malta expressed its appreciation to the Malta Police Force and the Emergency Department at Mater Dei Hospital for their coordination and support during the operation, which ensured a swift and effective response.
