More than sixty young people gathered at Aġenzija Żgħażagħ in Santa Venera for the event “Viżjoni Żagħżugħa”, part of the national consultation process for Malta’s Vision 2050. The initiative provided a unique platform for youths aged between 13 and 30 to share their dreams, ideas, and proposals for the Malta they want to live in by mid-century.

The programme followed an interactive World Café format, encouraging participants to exchange recommendations and build on one another’s input. Alongside the discussions, the event offered a blend of entertainment and community activities, including a treasure hunt around Santa Venera, artistic performances, themed workshops, and a concert featuring Maltese musicians. The day was designed not only as a consultation space but also as a creative, communal experience.

Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation, Keith Azzopardi Tanti, addressed participants as they shared their views. He emphasised, “Malta’s Vision 2050 is not just a set of goals on paper but a collective journey to build a sustainable economy, citizen-centred services, and an education system that provides a secure future. Young people are not merely being given space; they are being recognised as key partners in shaping this vision. Your voice is crucial and what you contribute will become part of Malta’s Vision 2050.”

Antoinette Cefai, from the Vision for Malta 2050 team, also underlined the importance of youth-led ideas, “When you hear proposals from those who will be leading companies and the country itself in 2050 and when those proposals are this detailed it is clear the Vision is on the right track. The public consultation allows us to measure this enthusiasm. The future is in their hands, and we will ensure that it continues to look bright through Malta’s Vision 2050.”
