Young Chef Gwen Raises €8,215 For Puttinu Cares Through Homemade Figolli

A heartwarming initiative by young chef Gwen has raised an impressive €8,215 for Puttinu Cares, with the donation presented during the live Good Friday telethon.
Taking to social media, Gwen shared her gratitude after successfully selling 1,200 handmade figolli over a six-week period. The project, now in its sixth year, was carried out entirely from home with the help of her mother, balancing school and long hours of preparation every single day.
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who bought and supported this project,” she wrote, describing the journey as one filled with determination, teamwork and love.
Gwen also thanked this year’s sponsors who provided the necessary ingredients, as well as her parents for their constant support, including delivering the figolli to customers across Malta.
Her fundraising efforts were showcased during the televised Puttinu Cares telethon, where the donation was officially presented, contributing to the ongoing national effort.
Gwen’s journey began at just 8 years old, when she launched an online cooking club during the COVID-19 lockdown. That same year, she started baking figolli to raise funds for Puttinu Cares, turning her passion for cooking into a meaningful annual tradition.
This year’s funds will go towards supporting patients and families in need, as well as contributing to the foundation’s latest project in London.
