Pringles has launched a Halloween campaign offering one lucky fan an unusual prize, a custom Pringles shaped burial urn together with what the brand describes as a 200 year supply of crisps.

The campaign, called Once You Drop, is inspired by Fredric Baur, the food storage scientist and organic chemist who designed the iconic Pringles can in 1966. Baur's packaging revolutionised the way crisps were stored by stacking them neatly inside a cylindrical container rather than allowing them to be crushed in traditional bags.

Following Baur's death in 2008, his family honoured one of his final wishes by placing a portion of his cremated remains inside a Pringles can before his burial. The unusual story has now inspired the brand's latest promotional campaign.

The prize includes a one of a kind metal urn modelled on the famous Pringles can, complete with a removable lid and personalised engraving. The winner will also receive an "afterlifetime" supply of Pringles spanning 200 years, which can be passed on to future generations.

The competition is open to legal residents of the United States and Washington DC aged 18 and over. Entries are being accepted until 22 October, with the winner expected to be announced around Halloween.
