The temperature was 5°C lower than the previous day, Sunday 13 September, marking the first time in 49 days that temperatures fell below the average. It was also the first time in 72 days that the maximum temperature remained below 30°C.

Monday’s maximum temperature was the lowest recorded in 111 days, following a period of 100 days where temperatures reached 30°C or higher.

The cooler conditions were also reflected in the minimum temperature, which dropped to 21.6°C.

This was the coolest minimum temperature recorded since the morning of 10 July.

The change in weather comes after a prolonged period of high temperatures during the summer months, with Monday marking one of the first notable breaks from the sustained heat experienced across Malta in recent weeks.
