A new cabaret celebrating Maltese talent in the UK musical theatre scene is set to take to the stage in London this May. Produced by Michela Agius alongside Miriana Pavia and Matthew Cassar, the show will be performed at The Other Palace on 14 May.

Titled XOW, the cabaret brings together seven Maltese artists currently working in the UK, offering a unique exploration of their journeys from Malta to London.

Through music from well known musicals, Maltese writing, and original compositions, the performance reflects on identity, culture, and the challenges of building a career in a highly competitive industry.

Agius described the inspiration behind the project, stating: “It’s about time Maltese artists get the recognition they deserve in London. After experiencing the industry firsthand, I realised how often you’re expected to blend in and to make yourself easier to place as a Maltese woman.”

She added that the cabaret was created to highlight individuality and shared experience. “It explores our journeys as artists from when we first moved to London, to where we are now. Navigating accent, casting, identity, being bilingual, and not always fitting into a box.”

Tickets for the performance go on sale this Friday via The Other Palace website.
